Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket Releases 'Deluxe Pack: Mega'… Overhaul Coming in Late October

A new expansion, 'Deluxe Pack: Mega', has been added to the smartphone digital card game 'Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket'. Its English name is 'Deluxe Pack: Mega'. According to an operator announcement reported by Japanese gaming media Famitsu on September 24, the distribution period runs from 10:00 AM on September 30 to 9:59 AM on October 29 (Japan time), with redistribution planned for a later date. The Pokémon Company press release site also released the trailer and card images for this pack on the same day.

4 Cards Per Pack, 1 Guaranteed Pokémon ex

Deluxe Pack: Mega reprints a large number of cards from previous expansions, ranging from 'Megarising' to 'Ruler of the Sky'. Each pack contains 4 cards, 1 of which is guaranteed to be a Pokémon ex. Some Pokémon ex feature new designs, and all 1-to-3 diamond rarity cards include mirror variants. Mega Charizard X ex, Mega Altaria ex, and Mega Lucario ex are included as 2-star rarity cards. According to Famitsu's report, no entirely new cards were introduced.

Upcoming events announced include a mirror card event (late September to early October), a ranked match season with increased winning streak bonuses, and a Mega Garchomp ex drop event (mid-to-late October).

New Series and Feature Cleanup in Late October

Management announced that in late October, certain content will be revamped and some features will be discontinued. Current theme deck recipes and rental decks will be removed, and deck missions will be suspended. Instead, a 'Someone's Deck' feature, a new rental deck system, and a new battle mode with progressively increasing difficulty will be added. Some paid launch products were announced to "end when the new series begins."

The new series was teased at the Pokémon XP event in August. According to the strategy guide media Game8, this series will launch in October, introducing 'Dual Type' Pokémon with two types for the first time. The trailer featured the Psychic/Fighting-type Mega Mewtwo X ex. The specific release date and set name have not been officially announced as of October 13.

Simultaneously Applied to the Korean App

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket supports Korean. The 1.7.5 version update notes on the Korean App Store explicitly state "New expansion 'Deluxe Pack: Mega' arrives," allowing Korean users to receive the same pack. This is a digital-exclusive product distinct from physical Pokémon TCG 'High-Class Packs' in Japan.
